I am an obese 33-year old single mom to a beautiful (inside and out) teen-aged daughter. I'm 5'2" and fluctuating between 180-190 lbs. for the past...oh...decade.
My mirror and cameras disagree; in my eyes, I look far better when I leave my house than any photograph has revealed in recent years. As I recently told a friend, "I dress it well." The big 200 is looming out there in the no-so-distant future and weighs on me heavier than any birthday ever will (no pun intended).
I've been a "skinny bitch" a few times in my life, but I now coyly describe myself as "curvy". I occasionally have inspired stints on my Wii Fit and generally attempt to eat smaller portions of healthier food, but my reality is that I <3 food and would rather watch TV then exercise. I'm a meat n' potatoes mid-western gal with an unhealthy love of fast food: hot dogs, burgers, fries? Pretty please with mayo on top.
Thank you for your blog, Phattycakes, perhaps you'll inspire this fellow Phatty to get off her fat ass and improve her health.
Thank you Honeybee for your candid comment. It takes a lot of courage to be honest about your own body. You said it though...it's about being healthy...and as a mother ..at least for me it's about setting an example of a healthy lifestyle for my son. I hope you will follow the blog and I look forward to hearing more from you.
